FAMILY TALKS

Family Talks guides families through important conversations around ageing.
Why do you need Family Talks?
Family Talks facilitates respectful, collaborative conversations within families about ageing, future needs and wishes.
A courageous conversation now creates clarity and certainty in the future.
Decisions made early and including all relevant people removes anxiety and confusion that can cloud the future.
How does Family Talks work?
Family Talks helps families discuss difficult topics in a supportive neutral environment.
The preferences and wishes of the older person are at the centre of all conversations.
Families are guided through respectful conversations where everyone is heard and understood.
Facilitated by an internationally accredited advanced Elder Mediator, they are designed to support you to find your own solutions.
Family Talks are confidential and voluntary.
What can we talk about?
All families have different needs, but conversations may include:
-
living arrangements
-
health and medical needs
-
power of attorney and guardianship decisions
-
advanced care planning and directives
-
end of life discussions
What are the benefits?
Family Talks helps families reach understanding and agreement about the future needs, wishes and preferences of the older person in order to:
-
reduce stress
-
prevent conflict
-
preserve relationships
-
foster greater cooperation.
What do we mean by families?
Birth families, chosen families, work families, friend families.
Whoever they are, however they are formed, they're all families to us.
